Open Topic - What About Other Religions?
Q : Are believers of a particular religion more likely to go to heaven compared to a free-thinker who does not believe in the existence of God?
A : The answer is actually found in John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth and the life; No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
*Scripture above is courtesy by Eunice
The scripture is clear that Jesus is the only way but that does not make us superior to others who are so-called, non-believers. Again, the key to interact with others, despite the differences, is tolerance. You may disagree with others opinion but do not let your need to be right get above your love for your friend.
Q : How should I explain (or where to start explaining) to others in comparing Jesus Christ with the other gods?
A : In my opinion, I don't think we should compare Jesus Christ with other gods but rather the real question should be,"Who is God?" When comparison is done, either parties will definitely will feel hurt by the debate (yes, debate!debate will definitely arise since comparison is taking place). Therefore, the best solution is to live your life out in all its brightness of God and do not hide it neither do you stain it. By doing so, it'll be the most powerful evangelism weapon that God has given to you.
Q : If a man has commited murder in order to save the lives of his friend (let say, the man who was murdered, was actually tried to murder the friends of the murderer), is this act of murder sinful?
A : Yes, this act of murder is sinful. Murder is never right at the first place even if it's for the sake of others, what more when it's contradict with the will of God that is to love your neighbour as yourself. Killing others who were created in the image of God is in actually killing God's people. There's no such thing as killing for the cause of righteousness. No one has the right to take away the right of others to live.
Q : Why do some of the believers experience death so early when they're such a faithful follower of Christ?
A : Death is inevitable and unpredictable. The life span of one person has nothing to do with one faithfulness. Being a faithful follower does not give us a longer life span neither being a less faithful person will have a shorter life span. However, I do believe if one has accomplish his role in this world, according to God purpose, he had finished the race and worthy to receive the crown of life. As a result, he might 'die' earlier despite the many great feats that he has accomplished.
Q : How to explain to non-believers that those who worship other gods (except Jesus) will not be saved?
A : This is a highly sensitive question but anyhow, the answer is found in John 14:6 . However, as we had learned, we all do agree that there are certain truths in every religions that showed the evidence of God has been working behind every cultures, tribes and nations since the creation of the world, in order that every men will be saved.
Q : Since every religions are teaching the same thing, do all religions pray to the same God? isn't it is just another name of the same God in a different culture or religion?
A : No, definitely not. There are other 'gods' in this world which are in fact, not god at all. Every religions teach the same thing, as we had discussed in the meeting, that the moral code is something universal in every human. It is in every human to know what is right and wrong which causes every religions seem to be teaching the same thing. However, despite having the same moral code, all the religions do not show the way to the one true God, who actually put this universal moral code in the people. Bear in mind also that doing all that are in the moral code does not earn your salvation (salvation means your guarantee righteousness given by God which allow you to live forever with God, or in simpler term, access to heaven). It is something to be done because you love God and as a result, feel compel to do it.
Q : Should then the people pursue Christ if it's just about acknowledging the leadership of God?
A : Definitely, acknowledging and pursuing Christ are two different matters. You acknowledge God's leadership because you realize that there is a need to be forgiven and you need God. As much as saying you need God, you'll also then, rightfully need to pursue God by reading His word, fellowshipping with other believers and etc. For example, in friendship, when you meet a new friend, you do not just acknowledge him as your friend, but you'll take the initiative to know him more in order to build a deeper relationship. It's not good just to make friends without knowing your friends as then, both of you will forever just remain as an acquaintance, not really as friends.
Q : How do we help those who condemn God?such as anti-Christ?
A : Live by the principles taught by Jesus - when your left cheek is slapped, turn your right cheek to be slapped as well. Also, learn to love and pray for these people as Jesus said, there is no credit given to those who just greet their friends, but rather greet and love even your enemies. By doing so, you might be able to lead your fellow brother and sister back to his/her sense and put their faith in God.
Q : Gateway to heaven is believing in the God of Truth, worshiping Him and receiving grace. How about Muslims that are so devoted? Will they be saved eventhough they have faith in God but not fully acknowledging Jesus?
A : Truth to be told, when you mention devoted, you're referring to self-afford to acquire salvation through human works and again, as we had discussed in the earlier questions, salvation through man's afford is not possible as our wickedness (action, words, and thoughts) are far outweight the amount of good works that we can do. If salvation is so cheap that by human effort that one can be saved, I believe everyone will be in heaven at the end of the day. There is a reason why hell and heaven exist as God has foreseen that the human race will be divided into 2; those who embrace His love and those who rejected His love. It's your call to choose wisely
